ITTU PET Strengthens Social and Environmental Commitment Through KolaboraSEA Energy Program
18 November 2024

Tanjung Uban, November 18, 2025PT Pertamina Energy Terminal’s Integrated Terminal Tanjung Uban (ITTU) continues to reinforce its role as a strategic energy terminal that not only focuses on operational reliability, but also on social and environmental sustainability. Through a series of Stakeholder Engagement activities and the KolaboraSEA Energy program, ITTU continues to promote community empowerment and coastal ecosystem restoration efforts in the Tanjung Uban area.

“Energy resilience must go hand in hand with social and environmental resilience. Through the KolaboraSEA Energy program, we want to ensure that ITTU’s presence brings direct benefits to the community, whether through strengthening food security, improving community capacity, or restoring coastal ecosystems,” said Yohannes Mulatua Sianturi, Terminal Manager of IT Tanjung Uban.

As part of the initiative, ITTU carried out a series of social and environmental activities under the KolaboraSEA Energy program, including the inauguration of Rumah Edu Tani, an aquaponics harvest celebration, mangrove planting, and the installation of fish aggregating devices (rumpon). These activities aim to strengthen food security, support coastal restoration, and empower fishermen and farming communities.

A key highlight of the program was the inauguration of Rumah Edu Tani, an adaptive agricultural learning facility designed to enhance the capabilities of local farming groups and communities in sustainable agricultural practices. The inauguration was followed by an aquaponics harvest event, representing one of the tangible outcomes of the training programs previously provided. This initiative further demonstrates ITTU’s commitment to supporting local food security through environmentally friendly and efficient farming methods.

Helmi Setyawati, Head of Bintan Utara District, also expressed appreciation for PET’s commitment to community development and environmental preservation in the Tanjung Uban area.

“On behalf of the Bintan Utara District Government, we would like to express our appreciation to ITTU PET for its tangible support through the KolaboraSEA Energy program. Initiatives such as Rumah Edu Tani, aquaponics harvesting, and mangrove planting not only improve community capacity but also help preserve our coastal environment. We hope this program continues and delivers even greater benefits to the community,” she stated.

In addition, as part of its commitment to protecting the coastal ecosystem of Tanjung Uban, ITTU collaborated with local communities to conduct mangrove planting activities aimed at preventing coastal abrasion and improving environmental quality. The company also installed fish aggregating devices (rumpon) to help revive marine ecosystems and support the economic resilience of local fishermen. These initiatives form an integral part of ITTU’s mission to create sustainable environmental impacts and deliver long-term benefits to coastal communities.

The KolaboraSEA Energy program series demonstrates that ITTU serves not only as a national energy hub, but also as an agent of social and environmental change. Community empowerment, food security enhancement, and coastal restoration efforts highlight how the terminal conducts its business operations with sustainability and humanitarian values at the forefront.

“The social and environmental programs carried out by ITTU are a tangible manifestation of the company’s responsibility to grow alongside the community. PET believes that safe and reliable operations must be accompanied by consistent positive contributions to social development and environmental preservation,” said Bayu Prostiyono, President Director of PT Pertamina Energy Terminal.

A day earlier, PET also held a Stakeholder Engagement event in Batam attended by representatives from the Bintan District administration, local government officials, media representatives, and local heroes. The meeting strengthened strategic communication between the company and stakeholders while opening opportunities for further collaboration on social and environmental initiatives.

PT Pertamina Energy Terminal is part of PT Pertamina International Shipping under the Integrated Marine Logistics (IML) Subholding. PET manages six strategic energy terminals across Indonesia and continues to strengthen its position as a safe, reliable, and sustainable energy terminal company. ITTU is one of the key terminals supporting national energy supply while actively implementing CSR/TJSL programs that create direct benefits for communities surrounding its operational areas.
